<p>The debate has been around for decades, and it won’t disappear anytime soon. What has lingered in the background since the dawn of technological development has intensified dramatically in recent months: Will technology make us obsolete? But beyond the discussion of whether AI will replace humans, another reality has already taken hold: Artificial Intelligence doesn’t change who works, it changes how value is created. The real question is not whether or which jobs will disappear, but whether we are ready to rethink and realign our assumptions about organization, responsibility, and productivity.</p><p>&nbsp;In my book The Age of Intelligent Economies, that’s exactly what I address: not an alarmist view of technology, but a call to recognize the opportunities that come with a new economic order. A coming reality in which intelligence is no longer bound to hierarchies or departments, but figuratively speaking – becomes fluid. Between humans and machines, between context, creativity, and code, between vision and viable execution. The core thesis of the book: The economy of the future is no longer based on output alone – it is based on interaction. Between human and machine. And between machine and machine.</p><p>This is not some future trend – it’s the new operating system of the intelligent economy, unfolding in two parallel and overlapping layers:</p><h3>HAI: Human-to-AI Economy </h3><p>We are entering a phase in which AI no longer acts as a mere tool, but as a co-creator, a partner. HAI represents a new kind of relationship between humans and intelligent systems. It’s not about outsourcing repetitive tasks, but about elevating decision-making, creativity, and interaction to a new level. In this Human-to-AI Economy, people work alongside AI agents. Sales teams use digital co-pilots to anticipate customer needs. HR departments design recruiting processes with learning-based matching systems. Leadership decisions are made with the support of scenario simulations proposed by agents. Roles evolve from executor to conductor, from back-office clerk to context architect with creative influence. HAI is not a product, it’s a mindset. It requires a new understanding of leadership, new organizational logic, and a clear view of how human judgment and machine efficiency can collaborate. Those who design this interaction don’t just improve efficiency – they build resilience, adaptability, innovation, and strategic clarity.</p><h3>Next Step: AISE – AI-to-AI Systems Economy </h3><p>And then there’s a second layer, one in which humans are no longer actively involved. At least not operationally. AISE: the AI-to-AI Systems Economy describes a reality in which autonomous AI agents communicate, negotiate, and make decisions among themselves. Without the need for human approval. Without breaks. Without traditional communication channels – because they’re simply not needed.</p><p>&nbsp;These systems already conduct price negotiations, manage supply chains, make selections, and automate bookings. It’s not distant science fiction – it’s happening now. But we are just at the beginning. In the AISE Economy, an entirely new infrastructure emerges, one in which machines become actors. As such, they need identities. Contracts. Rights. And yes, for sure responsibilities too.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;The consequence?</strong> Companies must prepare to onboard not just employees, but also AI agents.</p><p>&nbsp;HAI is the way we grow with AI. AISE is the space where AI operates autonomously. The Age of Intelligent Economies – A New Paradigm of Value Creation

<p>It never begins with chaos. It begins with order, and then the normal course of things takes over: everyday life, reality. In every system, whether biological, economic, or technological, everything starts with apparent or at least desired clarity. Models and processes are defined, responsibilities assigned, and everything seems to be exactly where it belongs. But the more real and lived the world becomes, the more entropy seeps in, blurriness, deviation, the unpredictable. Most organizations fight against this. They want to return to order, to predictability. But what if the unplanned is actually our greatest strength? What if systems that dynamically recalibrate themselves are more robust than those that remain rigid? Perhaps it is time to embrace a new understanding of stability. Not the rigid system prevails, but the one that stabilizes itself through movement. Like a roly-poly toy that is not stable while standing still but remains upright by spinning. Its balance is not the result of stillness but of motion, response, and feedback.</p><h3>Entropy as a Space of Possibility, Not a Disruption</h3><p>In classical physics, entropy was long considered a measure of disorder, a sign of decay and energy loss. But modern systems — particularly in cybernetics, biology, and economics, show something else: entropy is not a disruptive factor. It is a space of possibility. The more potential states a system can assume, the more adaptable it becomes. And that is precisely what we need in times of AI, automated decision-making, and fragmented markets, systems that are not perfectly controlled but highly responsive.</p><h3>The Principle of Productive Uncertainty</h3><p>In both physics and business, one thing holds true: the more complex a system becomes, the less it can be fully controlled or precisely defined. Absolute precision does not automatically lead to better outcomes. In fact, over-measuring and over-planning can blur our ability to respond to what is actually shifting. Dynamic systems require space for deviation, for context, for the unexpected. That’s where adaptability emerges. This mindset applies directly to today’s markets, organizations, and AI systems. Those who try to define everything in advance often block their own capacity to adapt. Truly living systems (whether companies, teams, or algorithms) leave room for uncertainty. They rely on feedback, context, and situational intelligence. And they turn uncertainty into a strength, through iterative processes, probabilistic models, or adaptive agents that do more than react. They anticipate.&nbsp;</p><h3>The Roly-Poly Toy as a Model for the Intelligent Economy</h3><p>What at first glance looks like a children’s toy is, in reality, a physical model for resilience through movement. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tippe_top The roly-poly toy doesn’t fall because it moves. Its stability doesn’t come from rigidity but from motion, energy input, and feedback. Modern companies, especially those operating at the intersection of AI and cloud, need exactly this kind of logic:</p><p>They must not rely on rigid processes but on adaptive coordination workflows that constantly adjust to new data, contexts, and decisions, ideally in real time.&nbsp;</p><p>They need systems that respond to disruptions not with resistance but with reorganization, through automatic resource allocation, distributed load balancing, or semantic decision logic.&nbsp;</p><p>Cloud platforms form the operational foundation of this dynamic. They enable the flexible orchestration of data flows, AI models, and agent systems, across countries, time zones, and business units. Scalability, availability, and redundancy are not centrally planned but continuously adjusted.&nbsp;</p><p>AI and autonomous agents function like intelligent torque. They keep systems in motion, balance fluctuations, recognize patterns, and suggest optimizations. often before humans even have to intervene.</p><p>&nbsp;Stability Is Not a State but a Behavior</p><p>Back to the roly-poly toy. It is not just a symbol but physical proof: systems that move are more resilient than those that remain still. The same applies to modern organizations, technological infrastructures, and AI-supported value creation. In a world of increasing complexity, the best system is not the perfect one, but the one that can intelligently rebalance itself. Instead of striving for perfection through planning, we should build around movement with intelligence. Instead of rigid control, we need understanding, feedback, and adaptation. And instead of perceived security, we need trust in responsiveness. This, in ourselves, in our systems, and in the interplay between human, machine, and cloud.</p>

Stable in Chaos! What We Can Learn from Entropy and AI

<p>...pure retro tech, and a lesson in how innovation often starts unconventionally.</p><p>Before Wi-Fi, before ubiquitous mobile networks and the cloud, even before floppy disks, there was a nearly forgotten form of data transmission: computer programs sent over the radio. In the 1980s, several countries broadcast software via radio waves. Sounds strange? It really happened! On FM, AM, or even over television audio channels, listeners heard sharp, screeching tones, not music, but data. The idea was simple and brilliant: home computers like the well-known Commodore 64 or Schneider CPC could decode these sound signals. Radio stations transmitted exactly this tone – and the radio became a download channel. Anyone listening and recording could capture a game live from the airwaves. In a sense: an early 1980s streaming service.</p><h3>Tech, Tape &amp; Timing – how it worked</h3><p>What sounds like cyberpunk today (Neuromancer, 1984, anyone?) was actually pure engineering. Radio stations in the Netherlands, Japan, or Poland regularly broadcast programs encoded as audio data streams. Listeners had to press the record button on their cassette decks at the right moment, and later play the tape back into their computer. If it worked, a game would start. If it didn’t… well, just static.</p><h3>&nbsp;</h3><p>What seemed like a curious hack back then was actually ahead of its time. Who would have thought that screeching tones on the radio would one day foreshadow our constant downloading of data – something we now do casually via mobile networks, Wi-Fi, or satellites. And yes: even today, much of that data still travels through radio waves. <strong>New technologies often seem strange or overly experimental at first until they suddenly pave the way for true innovation.</strong> Radio games remind us that technological progress isn’t always immediately tangible, but its long-term impact can be profound.</p>

Retro Tech – when Games were loaded via FM Radio

<p>When AI, robotics and cloud-based manufacturing work together seamlessly, a new chapter of industrial efficiency can emerge – especially in Europe. The production of the future may not need a human night shift at all. In so-called "Dark Factories" (the absence of humans saves lighting at night), intelligent machines, connected systems and artificial intelligence take over control – all without direct human presence on site. It’s not about replacing humans, but about new forms of collaboration. Automation and AI open up space for more flexibility, higher quality and greater innovative capacity in industrial processes.</p><p>Dark Factories must operate with high precision. AI systems analyze machine data in real time, detect irregularities and autonomously optimize workflows. Through predictive maintenance and self-learning control algorithms, downtimes can be minimized while production quality and resource efficiency increase.</p><h3><strong>Cloud infrastructure as backbone of smart manufacturing</strong> </h3><p>To scale this intelligence, cloud infrastructure is essential – ideally with a sovereign approach to ensure that the required and generated data is stored and processed in a secure environment. The cloud connects machine sites, enables digital twins to simulate complex processes and provides the computing power for edge AI – all in real time. This creates a flexible manufacturing ecosystem that operates independently of location.</p><h3>New roles, new opportunities </h3><p>Dark Factories do not mean the end of human work – but its transformation, and one that can be actively shaped. Technicians become data analysts, production workers become AI coaches – facilitators of the technology. The ability to interact with intelligent systems becomes a key skill in industry. Companies that invest in AI-based production architectures today are laying the foundation for more resilient and adaptive value creation. Industry in a new form: automated, connected, intelligent – and scalable anytime through cloud-driven architecture. Those who use these technologies strategically gain not only competitive advantages but also help shape the future of industrial production.</p>

Dark Factories – Intelligent production around the clock

<p>We have arrived in a tangible reality when we imagine collaboration not only among ourselves as human beings but also with artificial, autonomous intelligent partners. While for our parents in the traditional workplace, machines and programs were primarily tools to an end, today’s AI systems—such as predictive analytics or automated decision platforms—open up the possibility of viewing them as genuine co-creators, colleagues, and contributors. However, this development raises—and yes, we must learn to deal with this—fundamental questions about our attitude toward artificial intelligence.</p><h3><br><strong>Rethinking AI as an Intentional Partner</strong></h3><p><br>When we allow an autonomous system to make complex decisions, it quickly creates the impression that there is an actor with its own objectives behind it. Instead of losing ourselves in endless technical debates about neural networks and training parameters, it is often more helpful to start from what we might call an intention. In other words, as if we were facing a colleague who pursues the same goal as we do: for example, lowering costs, increasing reach, minimizing risks. Ascribing to AI systems the ability to make a choice the moment we interpret their suggestions makes their behavior more predictable. We then recognize, for instance, why in a given situation—perhaps even contrary to our expectations—it proposes exactly those suppliers or prioritizes those product features. In this way, we enter into a dialogue where we not only examine results but actively ask questions. We might ask, “What criteria did you use to make this suggestion?” or “What goal are you pursuing with this recommendation?” In response to such questions, we can trace the internal logic in a way that is understandable and usable for our everyday human minds. This allows us to leave the strictly technical level without having to delve into the depths of the underlying algorithms. (After all, we don’t do that today when we talk to other people—how strange it would be if we asked about the fundamental neurological and psychological patterns behind every statement.)</p><h3><br><strong>Embracing Iterative Co-Creation</strong></h3><p><br>At the same time, it helps not to accept the generated solutions as one-off, final answers, but rather to understand them as intermediate stages in a creative design process. When an AI suggests a text or a concept, that output is the result of countless internal calculations and evaluations, comparable to multiple parallel drafts flowing together. (At least that is the state of the art.) We therefore do not take the finished text as the endpoint, but understand it as a snapshot of an ongoing generative process. In practice, this means: we first let ourselves be inspired by the suggestions, evaluate individual building blocks, comment on them, and provide new feedback. The system combines these impulses, adjusts parameters, and presents another version. Thus, an iterative dialogue arises in which human and machine develop ideas together. This way of working resembles the familiar approach in creative teams, except that the AI takes the place of a human colleague, who not only reacts, but proactively proposes ideas that often open up surprising perspectives.<br>Another aspect that is becoming increasingly important in collaborating with AI is the idea that both sides can shape each other. When we contribute our human expertise, values, and experience in the form of feedback, the system learns to weight certain criteria more heavily. At the same time, the data-driven analyses and pattern recognition of the AI open up new viewpoints for us that we might never have considered without it. One could say: we undergo a mutual learning process in which we teach the system what really matters, while we in turn draw inspiration from its ability to process vast amounts of data in fractions of a second. In this reciprocal process, a kind of “co-evolution” emerges. From the initial suggestions arise new questions, coupled with our human feedback, improved models develop. Finally, these models in turn provide impulses that call our original assumptions into question. Yes! That way, step by step, we arrive at solutions that neither we nor the machine could have developed alone. So far, so good. Let us think further.</p><h3><br>Guarding Against Blind Trust</h3><p><br>But precisely because we increasingly treat artificial intelligence like an intentional agent, there is a danger that we will adopt its statements uncritically. If we believe that the system already knows what is best, we run the risk of pushing our own ethical standards and our usually healthy common sense into the background. That is why it is important that we confidently express our standpoint and check whether the generated suggestions align with our values. A suggestion that is purely geared toward efficiency may seem economically sensible, but at the same time it can neglect social or ecological concerns or even stand in complete opposition to common values. If we understand the interaction as a genuine dialogue, we question the system’s intentions: “How do you explain that you prefer this supplier even though it scores worse on sustainability criteria?” Only through this critical follow-up question do we discover potential blind spots in the data (which always exist) or in the weighting of parameters. If, on the other hand, we retreat into an attitude of blind trust, the AI-supported process relinquishes the human responsibility to draw important ethical boundaries.</p><p>It is also crucial to keep in mind at all times that autonomous systems no longer operate in a closed “black box” mode, but rather evolve continuously. New data, changing conditions, and our own feedback mean that the AI’s behavior changes over time. So if we regard the result from the last project as unchangeable, we miss the moment when the system may have “switched over.” By instead approaching collaboration as an ongoing process that requires regular readjustments, we prevent the AI from gradually slipping out of our view.</p><p>Finally, collaboration with AI can best be described as a dialogical process in which human creativity and machine computing power merge. This means we must relinquish rigid hierarchical thinking and cultivate an attitude in which we are receptive partners who give the impulses of a machine as much space as we give our own ideas. If we manage this, a cooperative dynamic arises in which we not only arrive at solutions more quickly but also discover more innovative ideas that transcend individual disciplines. At the same time, however, we maintain our role as the ethical authority: we ultimately decide which suggestions to pursue and take responsibility for the impact of our decisions on society and the environment. When both sides meet in an open, critical dialogue, innovation and ethical integrity flourish in parallel, guiding us—hopefully—to solutions that neither human nor machine could have achieved alone.<br></p>

Between Silicon and Soul: Rethinking Collaboration in the Age of Autonomous AI

<h3>AI You Can Touch—or Better Said, Listen To and Converse With</h3><p>AI is often very present in real life. Already today, smart AI agents support service and sales staff by providing conversation summaries, recognizing emotions, and automatically creating support tickets. At the same time, lifelike avatars, virtual and augmented reality applications open up entirely new dimensions of interaction. In these scenarios, customers can communicate not only via text (chatbots and the like) but also be guided through immersive environments by empathetic, animated assistants. That’s a lot to imagine at once—so let’s take it step by step..</p><p><strong>What’s Already Possible Today</strong></p><p>Companies are already deploying invisible AI agents that assist human teams in real time. For example, they automatically log all key statements from conversations, generate concise call summaries, and even offer “next best action” recommendations—all without interrupting the natural flow of dialogue between participants. At the same time, these systems use sentiment analysis to gauge the customer’s mood. Even before post-call follow-up, the AI can create a support ticket, populate all relevant fields in a form, and route it to the appropriate expert team. The result: a seamless, efficient workflow and noticeably higher customer satisfaction.</p><p><strong>Outlook: Lifelike Avatars, VR &amp; Holograms</strong></p><p>Although the future remains uncertain in many respects, a glimpse ahead is tempting. Soon, fully animated 3D avatars with real-time facial motion capture and neural text-to-speech synthesis will act as personal conversation partners. Often called “Digital Humans,” these avatars will dynamically adjust their facial expressions and tone to match the interaction.</p><p>At the same time, VR and AR applications will unlock entirely new advisory environments: customers will enter virtual showrooms via headset or use AR glasses to experience products at scale, interacting directly with digital assistants via voice and gesture control. Furthermore, holographic agents will merge the analog and digital worlds in physical spaces by projecting 3D figures that respond to eye contact, deliver personalized information, and thus enrich the shopping experience in a multisensory way.</p><p>Ready to dive into an even more fascinating topic?
