August, Unmeasured
August 2026
When late August comes around, it is sure that the summer changes. The light in the Alps are becomming more mellow, The mornigns in particular are running in the forefront of this change, the freshness is back welcoming us for glorious morning walks before the sun still makes such summer days warm. Leaving us room for being. This few days of turning points for nature and for us.
The whole year we live by measurements. Workdays, gymhours, deadlines, dates, output, quotas, goals. WE have somehow learned that days without productivity are lost. Are a weakness.
Measuring a summers day.
The times when harvest is in full swing and one field by another is being empties by machines, leaving the pure soil. And before winter takes over with the burden of heavy snow and endless chill. There is time to rest.
The soil cannot give forever.
And maybe this is also true for our thoughts for our attention. We are not machines of endless runnign cpacities, we are not 24/7 in any activity you can imagine. We are not intendet to be, and we cannot follow a world made of algorithm we are the source of unbundand attention.
We need to enjoy those moments, sittign by the lake, staring across the water. Not wanting to achieve anything, just be. Grabing a book, reading, floating and maybe just read a sentence twice, not because it is hard to understand, but because it is beautiful. This is the source of our growth, this is the biofuel which gives us quality of live.
The world around us will always demand more from us. But giving us entirely away is not the option to choose.
